What I Did Differently
I am giving you MY methods for increasing income. Look 95% of my best stuff is free. I share my best strategies, tips and tricks to position yourself for growth success. Sure I share things that make you smarter, a better writer or how to pump yourself up. But I haven’t wrote a post that shares direct, simple ways to increase money per project.
I’ve written four posts to remedy this. Each post will share multiple ways to increase income for each project. This post teaches ways to increase your income $5000.

Below I share four ways to make $5,000 per project. That sounds crazy, right? $5,000 is a lot of money!
I’m not crazy, I promise you. What I am is strategic. These four techniques are strategic. What’s that mean? That means that each of these four techniques reflects part of a deep and ongoing strategy to get better clients, charge more and do the work you love (sound familiar yet?).

“If you are telling the truth why true why share this information?”
We live in an age of false intelligence. You’ve seen it. Friends and family quote articles where they’ve only read the headlines. They name drop NPR and NYT like it means something. Doubting and casting skepticism is easier than doing.
This is powerful. Most freelancers either don’t use these techniques or if they do they don’t want the word getting out. Why? These four methods work. Don’t believe me? I secured a $6,000 year long contract using these methods. You can read about it on Danny Marguiles blog (here).
Last Time Value Growth, This Time Positioning
The wins from the last list were value growth wins. Value Growth is important. Growing your value for your customers increases your likelihood to make more money. The methods I share this week position you for maximum earning.
Here are 4 ways to strategically position yourself to massively increase your income and secure the success you doubted you could earn.
Ways to Charge and Extra $5000
1)Find Bigger Projects:Duh right? The bigger a project the more you make. Why don’t most people go for the bigger projects then? Most people don’t try for bigger projects. Most freelancers and online businesses don’t seek big wins. It can be scary going for big contracts. We all suffer from imposter syndrome.
Here’s the truth: You deliver a quality service. The quality won’t waver as the project gets larger.
My suggestion:Pitch ten large clients this month. I can hear you crying out already! Do it. Even if you hear ‘No’ every time you’ll begin to understand what bigger projects look for. Once you know what bigger clients look for you can position yourself to communicate to clients in a response positive tone.
2)Become an Agency:This builds off my first point. Freelancers lose work when their service ends up being only part of what a client needs. Consider this. You are a client who needs a video project with a sales page. Do you want to hire three to five different people? No! You want to hire one person to manage the entire project.
“I don’t know anyone!” you complain. Guess what, Upwork has made it easy to assemble a team of coders, writers, image experts and designers. Nothing prevents you from hiring a team when you need one.
Final Note:Becoming an agency allows you to promote your service for larger projects by bringing in other freelancers (and once you’ve built a relationship with other freelancers they’ll start referring you or hiring you for their big projects!)
3)Offer a Year Long Retainer:I’m gonna upset every freelancer I know revealing this. I’m not worried. Most people don’t apply what they learn so I’m safe to leave this here.
Clever freelancer’s have quit charging for projects. What they do is work on a project for free (stay with me, it gets better) but require the client to sign on for a year long retainer.
That means the freelancers does the project for free but locks the client into an entire year of billing for upkeep. Sound stupid? Do the math. What is better? One project in a week for $2500 or a yearly retainer at $300 a month?
This works. I landed a year long $6,000 contract using this method. Trust me, this is the future.
4)Agree to Performance Based Payment:This one will only work for people in sales, mainly writers, email sequence creators and lead generation experts.
How this works:You agree to create a sales sequence for a product or service. You then agree to accept payment on a percentage of sales made from the sales you get. The percentage you’ll get paid per sale varies on the project, size, cost and celebrity of person selling.
I’ve seen as high as 50% and as low as 3%. I’ve never done this. I’m not against doing this but to be successful you need to be both AMAZING and work with the right client at the right time.
Note:You will spend a lot of time monitoring sales, tracking and billing every month to make sure you get paid.
Go Be $5000 Richer
Strategy. That is the takeaway. Make strategic decisions. Succeeding online requires you to pivot as the market moves. Each of this methods positions you to pivot towards work on larger projects, secure larger incomes and creating ongoing passive income.
We did it! It took an entire month but we got through the series. Honestly I hated doing it. But as the series went on and my research grew I fell in love with the project.
